3 years ago, I was just a girl who LOVED to shop. The enjoyment of a delivery of clothes was sometimes the highlight of my day… the rush of dopamine from scanning through websites, finding the next outfit for that upcoming big occasion – watching the tracker to see when it’ll arrive, unwrapping the bag and putting on a fashion show for my roommate, only to find the clothes didn’t look how I imagined… oh well! At least there is no cost to return these... or so I thought.

I often opted for a quick shop at the sale in the high street stores or online shopping as my go-to’s and didn’t think much more of it. It was only when I started to look further into the fashion industry and discovered facts on what actually happens to the clothes that are returned, where clothes are made, how they are made, what detriment the industry has to the environment, my eyes became WIDE OPEN!

In Hong Kong, the majority of options for shopping include Fast-Fashion High Street Brands, Luxury Fashion, or Online Shopping… Swop Society was created to offer an accessible alternative to enjoy new (to you) clothing, before opting to shop.

 

Our goal isn’t to take on a multi-billion dollar industry... It is simply to educate our community in some simple fashion facts and give them an option to enjoy a new outfit, that is financially and environmentally friendly.
